Title and company.
Vice President at Curley & Pynn Public Relations Management
Give a brief explanation of your job.
I direct Curley & Pynn’s work for Sarasota Orchestra, Electronic Arts and the Florida High Tech Corridor, providing public relations strategy and project leadership to our team and clients. I also lead the agency’s business development initiatives.
How long have you been a member of FPRA and why did you join?
I’ve been a member of FPRA since joining Quotes, the Ad/PR club at UCF, in 2011. A friend invited me to attend a chapter meeting and I loved it. I applied to serve on the board the very next semester. At the time, the job market was tight, so I was eager for an opportunity to build my resume and my professional network before graduation.
What has been your favorite FPRA event or experience so far?
It’s hard to choose just one event or experience from the last 13 years. I have served in multiple roles on our FPRA Orlando Area Chapter board and each was fulfilling for a different reason (of course, serving as chapter president was a highlight!). But I have to say LeadershipFPRA was the most transformative experience I’ve had thanks to FPRA. I met some incredible industry role models, learned more about the major industries impacting Florida’s economy, and gained more confidence in my leadership and public relations capabilities.
Tell us about an exciting achievement (personal or professional).
Becoming a mom has been my most exciting achievement. My daughter’s first birthday is March 30 – happy birthday, Emilia!
What was your first job?
My first job was selling meal plans to incoming freshmen as a member of the UCF Dining Services summer sales team. At the time, I was looking for an hourly job that would allow me to stay in Orlando over the summer and gain industry-relevant experience. Lucky for me, it’s also where I found the man who would eventually become my husband.
What's one fun fact about you?
Before changing career paths and applying to the Ad/PR program at UCF, I once aspired to be a professional flutist.
