2022 PR Pro of the Year

FPRA Orlando is honored to announce this year’s Central Florida Public Relations Professional of the Year for Career Excellence award winner, Susan Ennis, APR, CPRC – Chief Strategy Officer for Girl Scouts of Citrus. This prestigious award is the highest honor given by our chapter and recognizes a member of the Central Florida PR community who demonstrates exemplary lifetime career achievement, numerous contributions to our profession and extraordinary leadership.

By the numbers, Susan has 20 years of experience in our profession, but, prior to that, she worked in advertising and raised three children before returning to college as a non-traditional student. She went to UCF and maintained a 4.0 GPA. Then, she entered PR and joined FPRA. She earned her APR in 2005 and served as Orlando Area Chapter President in 2006. She also served on the state FPRA Board as VP of Accreditation and Certification from 2011-2013. Other honors include Member of the Year for Orlando in 2012. In 2011, she embarked on getting her CPRC designation.

Beyond her FPRA journey, Susan has notably held leadership positions in Athena (women’s leadership development), Association for Corporate Growth, the Legal Marketing Association and as a board member for PRSA-Orlando. In her day job, she oversees PR for the Girl Scouts Council of Citrus and, notably, they are about to dedicate a Women’s and Cultural History Center at their Orlando campus. It will be the first dedicated women’s center in the state and one of only five in the country that won’t focus on the contributions of one specific woman, but rather a whole spectrum of extraordinary figures; like Poppy Northcutt, a central figure in the Apollo 11 missions and the first female engineer in mission control at NASA. It’s just the latest project Susan has seen to fruition in her role.

Throughout her career, Susan has held the highest ethical standards, and has been a shining example through her quiet reserve and dedication to the profession.
