January President’s PRoclaimer
By FPRA Orlando President Valerie Moses, MBA
Happy New Year, FPRA family!
I hope this message finds you all feeling refreshed and ready to embark on the adventures ahead of us. A new year is an exciting time to dream about what’s next and build a renewed sense of momentum toward our goals. 2023 was one for the books, but I’m feeling especially hopeful and filled with joy when I think about the journey that awaits us in 2024.
To kickstart the new year, I invite you to join us for a member-exclusive Coffee Chat event, taking place this Friday at Foxtail Coffee from 8-11 a.m. Start your Friday with a cup of coffee and valuable insights at the SoDo North location (1101 S. Orange Avenue), where you can connect with other members, enjoy a (much needed!) free cup of coffee and get some work done in a relaxed setting. As someone who recently began working fully remote, I know firsthand just how valuable that change in scenery can be for awakening new ideas and getting you into the right headspace.
And if professional development, or “getting my APR!” is on your list of goals for 2024, you won’t want to miss this coffee chat. Our VP of Credentialing, Jessica Bohlman, APR, will be there to answer your burning questions about the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) process.
Our chapter is also excited to collaborate with PRSA Orlando on the second annual PR Paid Forward, where members of both organizations will join forces to provide pro-bono counsel to local non-profits. This is an incredibly rewarding event where you can use your PR superpowers to give back, and I encourage you to be a part of it!
If you’re interested in volunteering, please submit your application by Wednesday, Jan. 24 and learn more at the link provided. If you’re connected with a nonprofit in need of strategic communications assistance, be sure to share our nonprofit application form with them! The event will take place on March 6 at 11:30 a.m. at Rollins College.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting lineup of events planned for the coming months, with our next professional development event on February 15. Stay tuned for more details soon to come your way!
As we move further along into 2024, I’d like to thank each and every one of our members for your involvement in our chapter. Whether you’re a longtime member or you just received your welcome letter, you play an important role in what makes our chapter special.
Here's to a year filled with memorable moments, professional growth and lasting connections!
