Quotes Corner: Breaking Records and Building Connections - A Recap of Intern Pursuit
By Alyssa Bookhart
Every semester, the Quotes Ad/PR Club at UCF plans an Intern Pursuit. This semester we had a record-breaking turnout with 327 students, 66 employers, and 8 Featured Internships!
Behind the scenes, a dedicated team of Quotes Board Members worked tirelessly to orchestrate every aspect of this event, from logistical coordination with employers to strategic promotion on our social media platforms. None of this would have happened without the fantastic communication and support from the Quotes Board.
Personally, my role centered around coordinating the Featured Internships. These exceptional internship opportunities are promoted on the Quotes social media platforms. Part of this process involved gathering logos, payment, table location, and a Q&A from these featured employers. The Q&A gives students a deeper understanding of what the internship is like and a jumping off point for research into the companies they’re interested in.
This semester, we were proud to showcase 8 Featured Internships, which is the highest number to date. Our featured employers included: RTW Photography, Curley & Pynn Public Relations Management, Wellons Communications, Appleton, J & Washington, Marketing for Change, Title Team, and Walt Disney Resorts. We were thrilled to have so many employers interested in promoting their internships. The inclusion of these prominent employers undoubtedly contributed to our huge student turnout, marking a 20% increase from the previous semester.
At Intern Pursuit (IP), there’s a diverse array of employers across the field of Ad/PR. There are advertising and PR agencies, corporations, and nonprofits. Students get the opportunity to meet employers from various backgrounds and explore various opportunities within the vast field of Ad/PR. From freshman to seniors, IP gives all students across many schools within UCF the opportunity to find internships in communications, media, and film. Intern Pursuit serves as more than just a career fair. It benefits both students and employers by providing opportunities to network, engage in meaningful conversations, and cultivate relationships that extend beyond the event itself.
Overall, the event was a resounding success, empowering students to navigate the Ad/PR, media, and film field with valuable industry resources. As I reflect on my participation in this semester’s Intern Pursuit, I am so grateful that I got to contribute to this rewarding opportunity. I can’t wait to see how else Quotes will continue to empower and inspire students!
