September’s President’s PRoclaimer Message
By FPRA Orlando President José Luis Dieppa
Hola!
A new year for the FPRA Orlando Area Chapter has begun! I’m thrilled to serve you all as chapter president for the 2022-2023 year. I am beyond grateful for your support for our chapter, our board of directors, and your trust in me to be your president. Together, we are going to accomplish incredible things.
On Friday, Sept. 16, the FPRA Orlando board of directors will meet for our annual board retreat - a day of strategic planning. During this time, we will discuss our efforts to make sure we provide the best benefits to our members and our professional community as a whole. We are going to focus on three areas: professional development, community/networking, and connection.
• Professional Development: Our goal is to provide unparalleled programming that will equip you with the necessary knowledge to excel in your career. We will do this by bringing a set of diverse professionals from different industries. In addition, we will engage with Quotes, the FPRA student chapter at the University of Central Florida, to provide resources and relationships.
• Community/Networking: We will build a sense of belonging through networking opportunities, and member-only events. Furthermore, we will connect with our Central Florida community as a whole through a special service project.
• Connection: Continue to further grow our efforts to connect with new and seasoned public relations practitioners.
This year our association’s theme is You Belong at FPRA, the formal launch of the organization’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative, which will ensure that in the years ahead FPRA’s leadership reflects the demographics of the state of Florida and the diverse communities we represent.
We begin the year with an amazing in-person program on Thursday, September 29 with the Orlando Economic Partnership and Visit Orlando - How “Unbelievably Real” Became a Reality. Register here.
In addition, we will see you at our upcoming membership mixer happening on Wednesday, October 19 at Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This event is free.
Finally, today is the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, during which we celebrate the broad diversity of our community. Throughout the month we will be celebrating our members and their contributions to the profession.
I’m excited for the year ahead of us and all we are going to accomplish together. We are a better chapter because you are here. You Belong at FPRA!
Thank you,
José Luis Dieppa
