April President’s PRoclaimer Message

By Roy Reid, APR, CPRC – Chapter President

It’s important to take time to celebrate when you achieve important milestones. For example, once again, we’re the largest FPRA chapter in the state—and when you include our vibrant student chapter at UCF, it's not even close.

That size reflects something deeper: a chapter full of talented, generous, and committed professionals who show up, give back, and move the industry forward. It also reflects the incredible work of our board—leaders who are helping to create relevant, meaningful experiences month after month. I’m proud to work alongside them.

Last week, we had the chance to partner with our friends at PRSA for PR Paid Forward, where dozens of communication professionals volunteered their time and expertise to help more than 20 nonprofit organizations strengthen their messaging and marketing plans. It was an amazing day of collaboration and purpose—and a reminder of how powerful our profession can be when it’s used in service to others.

Looking ahead, I hope you’ll join us for our May monthly program, which takes a closer look at the communication challenges shaping the future of transportation in Central Florida—from expressways to air travel to regional rail. These are big, complicated stories—and our panel of experts will walk us through how they’re navigating change, growth, and public engagement.

Also, it’s never a bad time to consider earning your APR or CPRC. These designations reflect a commitment to excellence in our profession, and they open the door to deeper credibility and leadership opportunities. If you’re even a little curious, let’s talk—we’ve got members who would love to help you on that path.

And don’t forget: The PR & Communications Summit is coming this August at the beautiful Rosen Shingle Creek Resort. Mark your calendars now—this statewide event is a highlight of the year, and you’ll want to be there.

Finally, we’re preparing to build the next board of directors, and I want to personally invite you to consider stepping into leadership. Serving on the board is one of the best ways to grow, connect, and give back. If you’re interested—or even just thinking about it—reach out to me or Juliett Gebken-Mayi, our President-Elect. We’d love to chat.

Thanks for making our chapter what it is—a dynamic, welcoming, and engaged community of professionals who are shaping the future of public relations.

Warmly,
Roy
