Title and company: Public Relations Associate, SalterMitchell PR
Give a brief explanation of your job: As a Public Relations Associate at a full-service communications agency, I work on owned and earned campaigns that help public education, nonprofit and financial clients share their stories. I also produce a podcast for a top HBCU that reaches audiences statewide. Finding creative ways for clients to connect with their audiences is my favorite part of the job.
How long have you been a member of FPRA and why did you join? I've been a member for a year now, and after moving back home to Orlando, I wanted to reconnect with my community and find a space to talk about the nuances of an industry not everyone understands. FPRA has given me that.
What has been your favorite FPRA event or experience so far? The PR Paid Forward event is my favorite. I participated last year and found it very rewarding to connect with local nonprofits and support the great work they’re doing. I've already signed up for the next one.
Tell us about an exciting achievement (personal or professional): I recently moved into a new house and wrapped up my first year at my agency. I’m really proud of the work I’ve done, and it’s been a great feeling to look back and see the progress I’ve made.
What was your first job? I was a hostess in high school for about five minutes. It was actually one of the more high stress professional experiences I’ve had. That’s why I have so much respect for anyone in the food service industry, their patience is next level.
What's one fun fact about you? I’ve never traveled outside the U.S., but that’s about to change! I’m in the process of getting my passport for an upcoming trip to Amsterdam. I’m beyond excited to spend my days eating food, wandering through museums and seeing a performance of Cabaret.
