Member PRofile: Tyler Winik
Title and company? I am the Director of Organizational Development & Public Affairs at the Brevard County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller.
Give a brief explanation of your job. In my role, I am a senior advisor to the elected Clerk & Comptroller with oversight into operations, public and government affairs, communications, and other related matters. I also work closely with our office's legal affairs for consistency and messaging.
How long have you been a member of FPRA and why did you join? I just joined last month after considering doing so for the past several years. One thing led to another, and I finally bit the bullet to make more friends in this realm and to connect with colleagues on a more meaningful basis.
What has been your favorite FPRA event or experience so far? I haven't had the opportunity to attend any programs yet but am very excited about the upcoming conference in August!
Tell us about an exciting achievement (personal or professional). One of my most exciting achievements is having worked on legislation that was signed into law to protect Florida's youth from the dangers of underage drinking following the deaths of two high school friends. I worked extremely hard for six years to pass two separate measures. The experience gave me a front-row view of how the government in Florida works and how to work with individuals of various backgrounds to build consensus and community.
What was your first job? My first job was actually as a scanner here at the Clerk's Office back in 2005. Since that time, however, I've held multiple management positions with the Clerk and also served as the public records liaison for the University of Central Florida.
What’s one fun fact about you? One fun fact about me is that while I appear extremely extroverted, I have introverted tendencies! While I enjoy mixing and mingling with others, I am just as happy catching up on a good book or glass of wine in silence. Nevertheless, I welcome my fellow FPRA members to reach out! I love a good happy hour.
