Title and Company: Senior Manager of Communications, CareerSource Central Florida
Give a brief explanation of your job: At CareerSource Central Florida, I oversee media relations and external communications efforts. I work closely with our operations team to stay informed of inspirational stories from our customers and valuable information worth sharing with our community. Recently, I worked on a media pitch for National Hire a Veteran day featuring a customer who had a beautiful story of resilience and perseverance. The story caught the attention of three local TV stations.
How long have you been a member of FPRA and why did you join? I joined in 2023. I decided to join because I wanted to connect with other PR/Communications professionals in Central Florida and have access to valuable events to grow as a professional.
What has been your favorite FPRA event or experience so far? My favorite event was the bowling mixer at Disney Springs. I attended as a new member, not knowing too many people. I felt so welcomed and had an amazing time
Tell us about an exciting achievement (personal or professional): My biggest professional achievement was earning my MBA a couple of years ago. A personal achievement was to become a U.S. citizen a few years ago. That was a full circle and special moment for me and my family.
What was your first job? My first job was when I was 17 at a restaurant in Mount Dora, FL. I was a busser. It was a great job, and I met so many families from town that I became their official babysitter. My first real job after college was at the National Mango Board where I worked promoting the consumption of fresh mangos in the U.S.A. It was a great job that took me to visit different countries and cities around the U.S.A.
What's one fun fact about you? I’m afraid of heights and some roller coasters. However, in 2021, as a wedding anniversary gift, my husband took me skydiving and I did it. I had a great time, and it was a lot of fun… however, I don’t think I will do it again.
