Title and company: Manager, Team Member Communications & Engagement, AdventHealth

Give a brief explanation of your job: As Manager of Team Member Communications & Engagement, I have the honor of supporting team member communications needs for AdventHealth for Women and AdventHealth for Children. I shine the spotlight on our team members, share their inspiring stories across internal channels, and keep our team members informed on important information they need to know. I work closely with hospital leadership to ensure timely and accurate communications are shared and look for opportunities to engage our team members to make them feel whole. I also support our sports and entertainment partnership teams who bring so much joy and happiness to our patients and team members.

How long have you been a member of FPRA and why did you join? I joined FPRA in June 2023. Prior to joining the communications industry, I worked as a TV anchor/reporter for more than a decade, most recently at WKMG News 6 in Orlando. I left broadcast journalism two years ago seeking a better work/life balance. I joined FPRA because I wanted to learn more about my new profession and connect with others. FPRA has been a great resource as I navigate this next chapter of my professional journey.

What has been your favorite FPRA event or experience so far? I love Media Mashup. It’s a perfect mix of my past and current life. I really enjoy connecting with local journalists (and seeing old friends!) and learning what happens on this side of a pitch. I think it’s a great opportunity to find out what stories they cover, make connections and sources, and learn best media practices.

Tell us about an exciting achievement (personal or professional): In 2015 I was inducted into the University of Central Florida’s “30 Under 30” inaugural class. It was such a surprise to be recognized by my alma mater for my work in broadcast journalism. It truly was an honor to to be part of such an impressive first class of young alumni that made tremendous impacts in their professions, communities, and the university since graduation. Go Knights!

What was your first job? My first job was as a summer camp counselor. I grew up in Central Florida and my city’s Parks and Recreation department ran a day camp for elementary and middle school students while school was out for the summer. I worked as a counselor for two summers while I was in high school. It was a fun job that helped me save money for college.

What's one fun fact about you? In college, I worked at SeaWorld Orlando as a costume character performer. I worked with the Sesame Street characters and I was “best friends” with Ernie, Zoe, and Rosita. I had so much fun performing in the shows for Halloween, Christmas, and summer break. I can still do the dances!
