October President’s PRoclaimer Message

By Roy Reid, APR, CPRC

First, I want to know that you are safe and doing okay after the storm. As I said in the message prior to Hurricane Milton hitting us, we need to reach out for help sometimes, especially when we are overwhelmed by events.

I’ve watched many of our members step up over the past few weeks and shine during the storm prep and now during the clean-up and restoration. My family was very fortunate in that we had no damage to speak of and never lost power. The remaining job now is to remove a pine tree that is leaning and dangerously close to the house.

As we navigate through natural or other kind of disasters, I am reminded of the quote from one of our local heroes, Fred Rogers…or Mr. Rogers as most of us knew him in our childhood.

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping’.”

Our community always steps up and we see so many people helping during these times. Our role as communicators is to help the helpers…get the important information out and be a voice, or script the voices, of clam, reason, and assurance. There is much work to do in the aftermath of the storm and I’m proud as chapter president to see how so many of you are contributing to our success.

Our programming committee has more exciting programs lining up for the year and we will get that out as they are confirmed. If you have questions or ideas for programming, reach out to Carla Sosa (carla.adriana.sosa@gmail.com). I look forward to seeing you next week.

We also begin our membership renewals this month and it’s important to get people signed up. Sarah Kelliher (skelliher@thestrategicfirm.com) has done a great job putting our campaign together and can answer questions or connect with you if you need anything.

I want to thank the board too for their quick response to everything last week and diving in to help get things put together as we needed. Just a reminder, if you need anything, please reach out. You can call me at 407-694-3533 or email me at Roy@Stockworth.com I may not have the answer or solution but will find it.

Thank you all for being the helpers we need.
