Member PRofile: Gisselle García
Title and company: Senior Public Relations Strategist, Curley & Pynn Public Relations Management Inc.
Give a brief explanation of your job: Having recently joined Curley & Pynn, I am responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans, cultivating strong relationships with media outlets and overseeing client initiatives to drive meaningful results. My role also involves mentoring junior team members and identifying innovative opportunities to enhance client visibility. By managing media relations, crafting compelling messaging and navigating reputation management, I help clients strengthen their brand presence and achieve their communication goals.
How long have you been a member of FPRA and why did you join? I have been a member of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) since October 2023. After spending the majority of the first four years of my career working remotely, I was eager to expand my network and connect with other PR professionals in-person. The Orlando chapter provided an incredible sense of community and after such a rewarding experience, I knew I had to renew my membership!
What has been your favorite FPRA event or experience so far? My favorite FPRA experience so far was participating in the “PR Paid Forward” program last spring. It was gratifying to help a nonprofit strategize their messaging and explore ways to raise more awareness for their cause.
Tell us about an exciting achievement (personal or professional): I will always be proud to have been a part of the founding board of the first Hispanic Public Relations Student Association (HPRSA) at the University of Florida during my undergrad. New chapters are beginning to form at other universities and it's amazing seeing the work we did continue to expand.
What was your first job? My first job was as a hostess/busser at a local Mexican restaurant in my hometown when I was 14. It was fun because it helped me continue to practice and maintain my native Spanish language.
What's one fun fact about you? During my gap year in college, I worked at the local Cheddar’s restaurant to save up for my college education. Two years later, I landed an internship at a local PR firm, and one of my clients was Cheddar’s. Talk about a full-circle moment!
