Member PRofile: Jamie Floer, APR, CPRC

Title and company? Communications Manager for Toho Water Authority (Toho), Kissimmee

Give a brief explanation of your job. I oversee all internal and external communications for the growing utility.

How long have you been a member of FPRA and why did you join? I’ve been a member for 20 years, and first joined to make the transition from journalism to public relations.

What has been your favorite FPRA event or experience so far? Getting to know people is my favorite part of FPRA. Truly, some of my best friends in life have come from the public relations profession. There are too many to mention, but they know who they are… Some, sadly, are no longer with us, but I am better for having the privilege of knowing them.

Tell us about an exciting achievement (personal or professional). By far, earning Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) and Counselor of Public Relations Certification (CPRC) are major achievements in my career. While neither are recent for me, I continue to coach and mentor others. I am always glad to grab coffee to discuss or help in any way.

What was your first job? My first PR job (after a decade as a journalist) was at engineering firm R.W. Beck (now Leidos) as a national PR Manager for the mid-sized power, water and solid waste firm.

What's one fun fact about you? True story: I met my husband on the front steps of Mickey Mouse’s house dressed as Mouseketeers.

What’s the best way to get in contact with you? I’m on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as @jamiefloer or via email at jfloer@tohowater.com
