Quotes Corner: Why I Love Public Relations

By: Angela Ramirez, Quotes Member and Advertising/Public Relations Student at UCF

It has always fascinated me how we connect and thrive off of communication with one another; how we value meaningful relations and thoughtfulness. Throughout my life, I have strived to go deeper than surface level in conversations and relationships. When I transferred to the University of Central Florida, I started to truly contemplate what mark I wanted to leave on the world and what passions I wanted to earn more about. I took a hopeful chance on selecting the Advertising/Public Relations major, which seemed like an exciting choice to me. When taking my first introductory course for the program, I learned the true value of public relations. I felt this burning eagerness to dive deeper and understand public relations' significance.

For me, public relations is more than just communication - it’s an opportunity to create strong connections with people from all walks of life. It is about establishing trust and an emotional connection between brands and their audiences. My admiration for public relations grows every day as I learn more within my classes, and gain experience in my internships and job positions. I love learning how to effectively communicate with diverse groups and create engaging content that resonates with a brand’s image. A career goal of mine is to help those brands make their mark in this competitive and ever-growing industry.

I truly believe that I have found my passion in public relations. It’s a pivotal tool that helps create meaningful connections with audiences and maintains a company’s reputation. All my life, I have loved being creative and intentional in my efforts to communicate with others. PR provides a never-ending range of opportunities to connect with new people, utilize creative strategies, and to work with others who share the same excitement as I do. As I am now officially part of UCF’s Advertising/Public Relations major, I reflect on how I felt admiration for it the first time I learned the meaning of it all. This is why I fell in love with public relations.
