May President’s PRoclaimer Message
By Juliette Gebken-Mayi, APR
Summer is officially here, and with that, award season, professional and student scholarships and so much more!
One of those initiatives is the new Path Forward scholarship, dedicated to offering support to communications professionals in Orlando who have experienced a layoff in the past year. I’ve personally been there, back when I was just getting started in my career in 2008, and can understand how disappointing and unsettling it can feel. I also know how important community and networking becomes, which can help reposition the sudden change into an opportunity of growth and transition. With that in mind, we created this scholarship to facilitate staying connected to the industry, expanding their network and feel supported. If you know someone who could benefit from this, I encourage you to share it with them!
Plus, within the next few weeks, we’ll be opening nominations for our chapter awards. Start thinking about how your peers (or maybe even yourself!) have created lasting impact in your organizations or communities. I personally can’t wait to see all the nominations!
As always, if you have any feedback or ideas for your chapter Board, the door is always open (virtually and in person) on my end! Feel free to drop a line at juliette@jgmpublicrelations.com.
Thank you for your continued engagement and support. I continue to be inspired by the passion, creativity and support that make the FPRA Orlando Area Chapter such a special community.
Seguimos!
